COLTON'S MAP OF THE UNITED STATES, THE CANADAS &c, 1851J. H. Colton, New York Exceptionally fine, crisp and clean map with a decorative border of leaves, nuts and berries --almost mint but for a single tiny fold break. The map extends almost to the 22nd meridian (start of West Texas), with many Indian reservations marked in the far Midwest. Railroads, canals and stage roads are shown, as well as early segments of wagon roads west. There are three insets: the United States (the entire West is "California"), Isthmus of Panama, and a large one of New England and Eastern New York. $975 (UC042) |
